Heartland Payment Systems recently acquired the campus card program pioneer, General Meters Corp. Now as one, they are altering the campus card landscape, serving more than 400 colleges and universities nationwide.
This past fall, Slippery Rock University expanded its Rock Dollars campus ID program into the surrounding merchant community with the help of Heartland Payment Systems. Students use their ID cards or a special contactless token attached to their cell phones to pay across campus, in the vending and laundry machines, and at more than 35 merchants around town.
